Getting started
- Open Learn and start Stage 0 with its short pre-test. There is no pass or fail; it is there to show your progress later.
- Open a lesson: it shows you first, one step at a time. Then practise until you pass.
- A stage opens when you pass the one before. To look ahead, choose a later stage on the left and tap Open to try.
Play with a keyboard
MIDI keyboard over USB
Plug it in; STPZKB uses a newly plugged keyboard straight away. Settings → MIDI keyboard lists every keyboard, with a tick for the ones in use.
Bluetooth MIDI keyboard on iPad
Switch the keyboard on, then Settings → MIDI keyboard → Pair Bluetooth MIDI, and tap your keyboard in the list. (The iPad's own Bluetooth settings do not show MIDI keyboards.)
Computer keys on Mac
A W S E D F T G Y H U J K play C up to the next C, even while typing in Thai. Click the STPZKB window once first. Space plays the question again, Return starts a round.
A digital piano's own sound (iPad)
Plug in a digital piano that sends sound over USB, then Settings → The sound of the keys you press → The piano's (USB). STPZKB asks for the microphone: that is how iPadOS passes the piano's USB sound to an app. The iPad's own microphone is not used.
Questions
My progress is not on my other device.
Sign in to the same Apple ID on both, with iCloud on. Settings → Go on on another device shows the state: synced, waiting for the internet, or not signed in to iCloud.
Does STPZKB need an account?
No. Your progress stays on your devices and in your own iCloud.
The rhythm stage says I am late, but I am on time.
Wireless keyboards and speakers add a delay. Settings → Latency (rhythm stage) → Measure latency, then tap along with the clicks.
I hear no sound.
Check the volume and, on Mac, Settings → Sound output. With a USB piano on iPad, choose The app's sound to hear STPZKB instead.
Can I open every stage at once, or start over?
Settings → Progress → Unlock all or Start again. Start again keeps a copy of your progress first.
Can I use STPZMX sounds?
Yes. With the STPZMX synth installed, choose its sounds for single notes and chords in Settings; presets you saved in STPZMX show up there too.
Is STPZKB for children?
Yes, from about 5 years old, and for adults starting out, music classes and teachers. There are no ads, no purchases inside the app and no tracking.
Can I change the language?
Yes: Settings → Language → English or ไทย.
Does STPZKB run on iPhone?
No. It is made for the iPad screen in landscape, and for the Mac.
