Questions, bug reports or ideas: [email protected]. Please tell us your device (iPad or Mac), the app you use STPZTUBE in (the STPZTUBE app, GarageBand, AUM or Logic Pro), and the STPZTUBE version.

Play through the tube in the app

  1. Open STPZTUBE and allow the microphone.
  2. Put on headphones: a speaker next to the microphone feeds back and howls.
  3. Tap MIC / LINE IN at the top so it reads ON.
  4. Play or sing into the microphone or your audio interface and turn DRIVE up: the sound gets warmer and more saturated, and the tube on the screen glows.

Load STPZTUBE as an AUv3 effect

Open the STPZTUBE app once after installing it. Your iPad or Mac then lists the effect for other apps.

GarageBand on iPad

  1. Open a song and select a track (for example one made with the Audio Recorder).
  2. Open Track Controls → Plug-ins & EQ → Edit, tap an empty plug-in slot.
  3. Choose Audio Unit Extensions → STPZTUBE.

AUM on iPad

In a channel, tap an empty insert slot and choose Audio Unit Extensions → STPZTUBE.

Logic Pro for iPad

Add STPZTUBE in a track's Audio FX slot, from the Audio Units list.

Logic Pro and GarageBand on Mac

In a track's audio effect slot, choose Audio Units → STPZ LAB → STPZTUBE.

Questions

I can't find STPZTUBE in GarageBand, AUM or Logic.

Open the STPZTUBE app once, then close and reopen the host app.

The app howls or whistles when I turn MIC / LINE IN on.

That is feedback from the speaker into the microphone. Use headphones, or turn MIC / LINE IN off.

Does STPZTUBE add latency?

No. It works on a live input and on recorded tracks alike.

Does it work on mono and stereo tracks?

Yes, both.

How do I reset a knob?

Double-tap it on iPad, or double-click it on the Mac.

Does STPZTUBE run on iPhone?

No. It is made for the iPad screen, and for the Mac.

Does it work in Ableton Live?

The App Store version is an AUv3 effect. Ableton Live does not load AUv3 plug-ins, so use GarageBand, Logic Pro, AUM or another AUv3 host.
